Building work round the clock distresses residents
Friday, 6th March 2020
• IT’S all happening in Chalk Farm: buildings are demolished at a rate of knots, traffic is redirected and we are not consulted or even considered.
Well, Camden would say we are, but the odd badly advertised two-hour drop-in is scarcely sufficient to let people know of such devastating changes as have been put in place and there’s more to come.
There was a whisper of an “Impact Study” but it has not, to my knowledge, come to anything. Of course asking residents would provide Camden with answers but they prefer to ask housing planners and consultants who do not live in our area or even London in some cases.
Builders seem free to work any hours that they please with no restrictions enforced by Camden. There was even work on Boxing Day – a complaint about which still has not been addressed. With even more work planned, for example Morrisons/Juniper Crescent, Saturday work is totally unacceptable.
Six days a week of noise, dust and disruption from 8am to 6pm is already destroying the quality of life for those who are sick and vulnerable as well as those who work from home.
Does it really take a consultation to work out that this is causing huge distress to residents? Camden used to be called “Your Caring Council”. It has become a couldn’t care less council, bent on profit at all costs.
