RIVALRIES were cast aside on Sunday as the Coalition Crusaders and AFC Shooters “played out the perfect game” in tribute to Kader Angel.
Players observed a one-minute silence before the division two game in the Camden Sunday League and held up pictures of the six-year-old, who was related to Crusaders’ manager Turk Mustafa. Two goals from Alan Mehmet and a winner from Mustafa Baskal saw the Crusaders twice come from behind to net a 3-2 victory, a result that Turk admitted was important to his players.
“Usually we’re a boisterous bunch but obviously today we were very sombre,” he said. “The boys won it for Angel, which was especially poignant as Angel’s mum, Sonay, had come along especially to watch the game.”
