WITHIN seconds of the final bell sounding, Kian “The Technician” Thomas was smothered by his biggest fan on Saturday – his dad Colin.

The welterweight smashed Dan Carr over six rounds at the York Hall in Bethnal Green to record a 60-52 points victory and make it three wins out of three in the paid ranks.

The former St Pancras ABC amateur, who lives in Tufnell Park, says his dad is his “most honest critic” – a point he proved when telling Kian he should have used his jab more, after seeing him win his first six-rounder as a professional.

“He’s my biggest supporter, and goes through everything I go through,” said Kian. “He told me that my jab was hurting Dan and that I should have used it more. He was, of course, right.”

The 23-year-old, who is a huge Arsenal fan, says he’s “ready to go the distance” following Saturday’s commanding win.

“Of course, I want to knock out opponents but the priority is to win and I did that convincingly,” he said. “I won every round, and he got deducted two points for using his head – so I had no problems in there whatsoever.

“The amateurs are only ever over three rounds, now I’m doing double that.

“It’s good to know I’ve got that in my locker, although – to be honest – when I was training I was doing 14 rounds against middleweights. So I already knew I was fit enough.”
