THE Boston boys pulled off a remarkable double in the Chalk Farm Pool League on Monday night to blow the division one title race wide open.

The Boston Arms pocketed the most eye-catching result of the night as they beat defending champs Sir Robert Peel 6-3 to move within touching distance of top spot.

The victory leaves the Tufnell Park-based side on 54 points, level with second-placed Green Man, and just one good win away from overtaking leaders King’s Cross Hurricanes, who have 62 points.

Pub-mates Boston Old Skool were also celebrating after ending a run of three straight defeats by beating Peckwater Playboys 5-4 in a nine-frame thriller.

They are now 18 points behind the Hurricanes but with only seven games of the new season chalked off there’s still plenty of time left to close the gap.
