SIX-SHOOTERS Islington Raiders (pictured) are the latest team to hit our headlines after bagging their first league win of the season at Market Road on Friday.
Alfie Goulding scored twice as the Under-14s side ran out 6-0 winners against Somers Town in the Camden and Islington Midweek Youth League. Capping a real team performance, the Raiders shared the goals around with Nahid Abdin, Brandon Roberts-Marshall, Shakur Onyinah and Gallas Sey all finding the back of the net.
They may not have scored, but team-mates Samuel Oluwatobiloda, Tommy Jackson, Josh Holloway, Alfie Baker, Michael Doolan, Tyrique Osakanu and Zakari Lahroum also all played their part in the convincing win.
Manager Gary Edmead was full of praise for his young stars. “All the boys played like a team, and won like a team,” he said.
Players from West End FC were also celebrating after starting their campaign in the Camden and Regent’s Park Youth League with a good win. There was no separating sharp-shooters Jack Donoghue and Anthony Delayey as they both scored hat-tricks, while Benny Davies struck twice in an 8-0 win over Atlantic Allstars.
Saturday mornings at Regent’s Park isn’t all about the results and league tables, however, with young players all enjoying themselves in the Under-6s and 7s Friendly League.
This week sides from West End FC, Highgate Rangers, Soccer Skills and Pro Touch Soccer Academy all took part.
