REVELLERS who targeted an empty former bowling club for an impromptu New Year's Eve party were arrested – while eating their way through a stock of biscuits.

Police were called to the Mansfield Bowling Club in Dartmouth Park on December 31 after neighbours noticed a window into the now-closed club house had been smashed.

Eight people were found having a New Year's Eve celebration. A bowling club director told the New Journal the uninvited party-goers had helped themselves to drinks from the bar, before making their way into a kitchen area. It was here officers investigating found them eating their way through packets of shortbread.

All eight were arrested.
