DEVOTED fans slept in Camden Town overnight where they witnessed fights and endured being spat on – but say it was all “worth it” to see Billie Eilish.

The 21-year-old megastar from Los Angeles announced a surprise “intimate” gig at Electric Ballroom last week. She will perform this evening to 1500 fans who have travelled from across the globe to see her.

Keen to get a front-row space, fans had formed a queue by yesterday (Monday) afternoon.

Heidi Walters, from Brighton, said camping overnight in Camden had been “crazy,” adding she had witnessed fights and members of the queue had been spat on by passersby.

But she said it was worth it to see the singer perform to a relatively small crowd.

“It might never happen again – this isn’t something that happens every day,” she said.

“I spent a week in Australia for her. Last tour, I did Ireland, then I did the London shows and I flew to Australia. I did all the Sydney shows and then I went to Brisbane and then I came back.”

Ms Walter’s friend Karla added: “A lot of these [fans] are coming from so many different places that they don’t realise London is a bit insane. It’s a bit crazy, we are literally risking our lives – it’s worth it though.”

Tents were pitched

And Lara Bussenius, visiting from Germany, said she and fifteen other friends had changed their return flights in order not to miss the performance.

By Tuesday morning, Camden Market was littered with pop-up tents, sleeping mats and blankets. Many people had travelled to London from Reading Festival, where Ms Eilish played a set over the weekend.

The singer was filmed waving to fans from a window this afternoon. Some members of the queue said they had seen Ms Eilish’s father pause and speak to fans ahead of the gig this evening.
