A SUPER squad of talented young swimmers from Camden and Islington came together on Sunday to wish a fond farewell to one of their coaches.

Youngsters from Camden Swiss Cottage honoured team manager Gill Muir with a creditable third place finish in the final of the M11 Junior League.

In a closely-fought battle, which brought spectators to their feet at Blackshots Pool in Thurrock, Camden finished with 28 points, just behind winners Barnet Copthall, who collected 35 points, and runners-up Romford Town who had 30 points.

Impressive winners clinching maximum points for the club were Marliese Rittenhouse, Nora Rotman, Ruby Coyle, Aaron Waring and Alexander Borisov. Nora and Marliese also teamed up with Allie Gruber and Anna Waring to win the 9 and Under girls’ freestyle relay.

Gill, who masterfully filled the role of community coach and head of development swimming at Swiss Cottage, is moving on to devote more time to her Swim School.

“I’m sad to be moving on after five years and have really enjoyed my time at Camden,” she said.

“I’m happy that as I leave there are lots of really promising young swimmers moving through the ranks.”
