Catalogue of flaws with library services
• COUNCILLOR Anna Wright lists many of the library services back on stream but skips lightly over some big issues, (All libraries back by October 19, October 8).
Why is browsing limited to 20 minutes? If demand is heavy, this may be useful. Otherwise, it is not.
Why has the head of libraries done nothing over seven months to straighten out the mess the computers are in?
I was advised in February not to bother to raise the issue because it was all being updated. We have dangerous out-of-date software which is hazardous, and might be updateable under the terms of existing contracts.
Why is the catalogue so inadequate? When Donald Trump’s niece, a psychologist with a load of family secrets to highlight, writes a book on him and his first term, I would expect several copies on the shelves. This is a subject that will be studied for a century.
Why has the “recommendations” book been removed without, as far as I can see, any of the recommendations being bought?
The councillor is new to the job. She has the opportunity to turn Camden libraries into a first class service. Let’s see if she does.
