WITH a deep breath, 10-year-old Lucie McNicholas saw her locks get the chop on Saturday as she cut off her hair to help a cancer charity.

The New Journal reported last week how she was determined to donate her locks to the Little Princess charity, which turns hair into wigs for children suffering from cancer.

Lucie, who lives in Regent’s Park and goes to St Aloysius School, has raised more than £1,000 in sponsorship to help create a wig, with more contributions still coming in.

Her mother Catherine said: “We are all so proud of her. She just read about what Little Princess do and wanted to help. She has already said that she wants to grow her hair back to where it was, so she can cut it off and donate some more.”

To support her daughter’s efforts, Catherine also faced the scissors at a salon in the West End, swapping her long hair for a bob.
