Be an allotment buddy?

Thursday, 8th October 2020

• WITH allotment waiting lists on the rise have you considered being an allotment buddy?

The buddy scheme gives the opportunity to future plot-holders to get some hands-on experience on what it needs to maintain a plot.

This is a completely voluntary scheme entered into by the existing plot-holder and the person on the waiting list. Only residents already on the allotment waiting list or new applicants are eligible to participate.

There are no privileges for “allotment buddies”, they will still need to wait until they come on the top of the waiting list for a plot to be offered to them.

There is no commitment that allotment buddies will be offered the plot they have been helping with.

If the designated holder decides that he or she does not need any more help, then the allotment buddy will have to wait for a new opportunity to arise.

At the end of the buddy arrangement the buddy must return any keys, etc, provided by the tenant. Also you do not have to be in the same borough as the allotment.
