• BARBARA Hughes, a former King’s Cross councillor, resided in Somers Town ward, and her dedication to public service was truly commendable, (Tributes to three-times mayor Barbara Hughes, July 20).

Throughout my political journey, she remained an inspiring presence, sharing her experiences and advocating passionately for the local community.

Alongside her role as the vice chair of St Pancras Town ward Labour Party, Barbara’s commitment to the Camden community was truly remarkable, and her tireless efforts in fighting for residents’ rights showcased her profound knowledge and unwavering dedication.

Her extensive involvement in various roles within Camden exemplified her strong work ethic. Notably, she held the position of Mayor of Camden on three occasions and served as a trustee for esteemed organisations like Age Concern Camden, Somers Town Association, and St Pancras Community Centre, among others.

It is undeniable that Barbara’s contributions to Somers Town ward were significant and impactful. Her legacy will continue to resonate within our community for years to come.

During this time, our thoughts and prayers are with her family as they navigate through this difficult period.
