• KW Howarth (What will our monuments legacy be?, March 10) is right that we should not lose sight of our heritage.

My book about Lyndhurst Hall, A Penny for a Brick, attempts to record that building’s history.

It includes the fact that the BBC moved out in 1962 because the noise from the building of the West Kentish Town estate disrupted rehearsals.

The original congregation who built the hall would be shocked to see how little things have changed.

In 1895 the hall was a depot for the National Food Supply Association, or what we now call a food bank, and regular appeals were made for clothing so children could attend Sunday School.

Access to legal advice, via the Poor Man’s Lawyer, and the various children’s and adult activities that took place there, are all in short supply today.
