A FAMILIAR face was greeted by hand shakes and warm smiles this week after making a welcomed return to north London.
After a six-year break, Lianne Sanderson, 26, has re-signed for the Gunners following a spell in the US, with Boston Breakers, Philadelphia Independence and DC United Women.
The forward, who also played for Chelsea and Cypriot side Apollon Limassol, came through the Gunners’ Centre of Excellence to win five league titles, four FA Women’s Cups and the Uefa Women’s Cup in her first spell with the club.
“I’m so pleased to be coming back to the club I call home,” she said. “I grew up learning the game at Arsenal from the age of eight and I get a real sense of pride every time I pull on the Arsenal shirt, so I can’t wait to get started.”
