ONE of the unsung heroes of the Covid-19 pandemic has won a prestigious national award after being praised for her commitment to patient care at the Royal Free London.

Margaret Harris, domestic services manager at the Hampstead hospital, took home the “Covid response” gong at the NHS Parliamentary Awards ceremony held earlier this month.

Ms Harris and her team had a crucial role in keeping all areas of the hospital clean and ensuring there are adequate supplies of scrubs and other necessities on the wards.

She had been nominated for the award by Hampstead and Kilburn MP
Tulip Siddiq, who said: “It was wonderful to meet Margaret at the awards ceremony to congratulate her in person for all her hard work during the pandemic, which ensured that the Royal Free Hospital could deliver safe and effective care at a time of crisis.”

She added: “I am grateful to her and all the amazing staff at the Royal Free who have been working tirelessly on the frontline for the last two years to keep us all safe.”
