ALAN “The Avalanche” Higgins made it seven wins out of seven in the professional ranks on Sunday when he beat Jason Ball on points at the York Hall in Bethnal Green.

The Kilburn middleweight dominated his first 10-round contest as he won 99-92 on the referee’s scorecard, a victory that saw him jump to 17th in the British rankings. Having been sparring with the likes of Patrick Nielsen and James DeGale, Alan said that victory over Ball was the latest sign that his career is bang on track.

“I feel very fit so the more rounds the better. For now my main aim is to get a few more fights under my belt, gain more experience, and build my fan base, which is important for selling tickets.

“I’ve fought Jason before over six rounds, but to fight him over 10 was more of a risk because he’s better suited to the distance.

“So to win eight of the 10 rounds shows that I’ve come a long way since fighting him last time and my career is very much heading in the right direction.”
