Lines on Eric Gordon, Founding Editor of the Camden New Journal

IN 1994, I encounter one true force of nature, a perfect gentleman,
Called Eric Gordon, at the helm of the Camden New Journal,
One of my very first sponsors, for my British Heart Foundation bike ride,
In the enchanting Holy Land, all in aid of Mankind.

Humble and powerful, at his desk, sat the master,
Substance and quintessence for important matters,
Gentleness and caring, compassion for others,
This Balzac looking man, could even walk on water.

In 2021, I am a CNJ paper girl, in my beloved Belsize Park,
Carrying the News around, like a little Joan of Arc,
On this Thursday morning, the News is sad and stark,
Au revoir, Eric Gordon, to you, this little ode from my heart.
