Attacks on Rebecca Shirazi have been totally unjustified

Thursday, 21st June 2018

• I WRITE to support Rebecca Shirazi, vice-chair (campaigns) of Hampstead & Kilburn Constituency Labour Party, and condemn the unjust attacks on her and the party by ex-council leader Sarah Hayward and others.

It is quite shameful to call for the closing down of the Hampstead & Kilburn party based on untrue reports of what supposedly happened at general committee meetings which she did not attend. Sarah Hayward is not even a member!

Since the May elections we have celebrated our stunning victories, having gained six Labour councillors in wards held by the Tories for 20 and 30 years; we have carried on with business as usual in a comradely fashion; and last month respectfully stopped to observe silence to mark the passing of Dame Tessa Jowell and to honour the victims of the Gaza massacre. Reports of heckling are totally untrue.

We will continue to campaign until we can replace the worst Tory government in modern times with an anti-austerity, pro-ordinary people Labour government under Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership.
