Ask the community what they want done with section 106 money
Friday, 28th February 2020
• CAMDEN are proposing to install a new pointless pavement on the eastern half of Cartwright Gardens – both residents and businesses are completely opposed to the plan. Why on earth do we need a pointless pavement in a time of “austerity”?
The answer is that Camden are scrambling to spend the section 106 payment raised from the infamous One Cartwright Gardens development, which needs to be spent within five years of payment. The five-year limit is fast approaching.
Section 106 funds are supposed to be spent on offsetting harm to the community caused by a development. Does it not cross councillors’ minds to consult the community about how money could be spent to improve their area? Or do they consider forcing through a scheme against everyone’s interests to be in their best interests?
