MIKEL Arteta has steered away from the idea of football clubs being given a transfer window for managers in a week that has seen the Premier League hit by more high-profile sackings.

Tottenham sacked head coach Thomas Frank on Wednesday after less than eight months in charge, while Nottingham Forest were even more ruthless yesterday (Thursday) when they gave their third boss of the season the boot, sacking Sean Dyche after just 114 days.

Facing questions ahead of Arsenal’s must-win trip to Brentford last night, which was kicking off as the Tribune went to press, Arteta made it clear that when it comes to sitting in the hotseat, he’s happy with the status quo.

“I don’t want to get into that territory – I don’t know,” said the Spaniard.

“I think at the end, clubs need to have a freedom to decide what the best way is to do that. It’s always been like that, so I don’t know if a change to that would make it better.”
