PETR Cech believes that spending a full pre-season with his new Arsenal team-mates will help him to settle in quickly at the club.

The goalkeeper became  Arsene Wenger’s first senior signing of the summer when he joined from Chelsea on Monday in a deal reportedly worth around  £11million.

Cech, 33, has spent the past 11 years in the Premier League with the Blues, and is confident that he can build an effective understanding with the Gunners defenders. “We will have the whole pre-season to work together and to get used to each other,” he told Arsenal Player

“The fact that you have a settled back four with people who have known each other for some time is an advantage.

“I know the league and what to expect, so this is to my advantage. I will just need to find the understanding between me and the defenders.

“But we have a whole pre-season and the pre-season games to get used to each other and I think that we will find a way to make it work pretty soon.

“I have to say that I’m looking forward to playing with everybody because I believe that every single member of the team is very important in the course of one season,” Cech added.

“You hardly start with 11 guys in the first game and finish with them in the last game – you need everybody and if you want to challenge people in Europe and challenge for every competition, you obviously need every single member of the team. I’m really looking forward to playing with my new team-mates and hopefully to have the same successes I had in the past.”
