ARSENAL fans may be a little jittery after Tuesday's goalless draw with Besiktas, but new boy Calum Chambers has never felt better.

The summer signing from Southampton said his confidence was sky high after the “fantastic experience” of keeping a clean sheet in the Champions League qualifier first leg in Turkey.

The teenager has won widespread praise after another eye-catching display filling in for Per Mertesacker while the Germany centre back recovers from winning the World Cup in Brazil.

Speaking after the match, Chambers told the Arsenal website: “It's a fantastic experience for me to play at a stadium like that and a crowd like that. It's another good experience for me playing against players of such quality.”

“It's fantastic for me and I'm gaining confidence game by game. It's with the help from everyone at the club and the players and staff who have welcomed me. That's helped me settle in so quickly. You learn from playing and training every day with players of this quality.”

The Gunners will be without Aaron Ramsey for the return leg of the Champions League qualifier after the midfielder was sent off for two bookable offences on Tuesday night.

It means they will need to beat the Besiktas next Wednesday at the Emirates to progress to the next round.
