LIVERPOOL have reportedly given Arsenal a straight no after being offered £30 million for Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan striker is said to be unsettled at Anfield after a season of highs and lows which ended in a suspension for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic. Suarez, 26, said earlier in the summer that the break might be a "good moment for a change", although previously he has been linked with Real Madrid rather than a move to one of Liverpool's domestic rivals.
Gunners fans are still waiting to see what comes of talk of a £70 million transfer kitty at the club and a suggestion that Arsene Wenger is in position "escalate" spending. Arsenal looked doomed in their pursuit of Wayne Rooney after new Manchester United chief David Moyes said he was not for sale on Friday.
But the club's interest in Real's prolific forward Gonzalo Higuain is ongoing with the two clubs negotiating a price after an agreement in principle was said to have been reached. There are differences of opinion over whether there is still an opportunity for other clubs to join the bidding for the Argentinian.
Arsenal's rivals Tottenham Hotspur, meanwhile, are said to be at a similar stage in the race to sign Barcelona's much-admired goalscorer David Villa, who is set to leave Camp Nou this summer.
