Casey Stoney: ‘It’s fantastic to see my club teammates playing alongside me at a World Cup’

CASEY Stoney says it is “fantastic” for Arsenal Ladies to be so well represented at the Women’s World Cup in Canada.

Stoney is one of five Gunners preparing for England’s massive quarter-final showdown against the host nation on Sunday, along with Siobhan Chamberlain, Alex Scott, Jordan Nobbs and Lianne Sanderson. 

“It’s fantastic to see my club teammates playing alongside me at a World Cup,” the centre-back told Arsenal.com. “We know there is still more to come from us, but we are enjoying the experience. We’re taking each game as it comes to build momentum and that’s all you can do in tournament football.” 

Meanwhile Arsenal Ladies’ will be the first side to wear the club’s 2015/16 PUMA kit in a competitive fixture when they return to action in the Women’s Super League against Liverpool on Sunday, July 12 at Meadow Park.
