The last league game of the season is now sold out

IT has been a long time since Arsenal have truly been in a title race and still in with a shot of the big prize at the end of March.

There are still a lot of matches to go and several hard fixtures ahead which could easily derail the Gunners’ bid to win the league, but this did not stop thousands of fans trying to bag a potential ‘I was there’ ticket for the final game of the season this morning (Tuesday).

Never has a ticket for ‘Arsenal versus Wolves’ been so in demand, as supporters hold out hope that they could see the team parade the trophy for the first time since the club moved to the Emirates Stadium. Several people complained online that they were held up in the wait at the box office.

Fans were held in online queues in the desperate hope to get to the ‘buy’ screen before they ran out – which they inevitably did almost as soon as they went on sale.

These are the supporters who do not have season tickets but are signed up to the silver membership scheme.

After news that every available ticket had gone, online ticket retailers claimed they had some to sell with quotes of around £1,000 being pushed out across the internet.

Some tickets may become available through the official route of the ticket exchange, where season ticket holders who cannot make the match put their pass up for sale and allow somebody else to use it.

Arsenal still face tough tests away at Liverpool and Manchester City, with Chelsea and Brighton also due to the visit the Emirates in the final race to the line.

The first task, however, is Saturday’s home match against Leeds United, which midfielder Thomas Partey has emerged as a fitness doubt for.
