ARSENAL supporters got to meet their heroes at the club’s annual “Members’ Day” today (Thursday).

More than 5,000 Gunners fans – who pay an annual subscription for special offers and the chance to get match tickets – were at the event that started with the first team being put through their paces by manager Arsene Wenger on the Emirates Stadium pitch.

Twenty lucky Junior Gunners got to play with Jack Wilshere, Olivier Giroud and Mikel Arteta. Fans tried to beat Calum Chambers, Gedion Zelalem and Mathieu Flamini in a “crossbar challenge” – attempting to hit the crossbar with a long-range shot. Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny and new right-back Mathieu Debuchy “wheeled away in delight” when they managed the trick first time.

New signing Alexi Sanchez played table tennis with fans inside the stadium where a Q&A was held with “legends” Pat Rice, Freddie Ljungberg and Martin Keown.

The day was capped off by fans being snapped with players standing next to the FA Cup.
