ARSENAL are sweating on the fitness of Chloe Kelly after the forward was forced off during England’s friendly win over Ghana on Tuesday night at St Mary’s Stadium.

Kelly went down clutching her right leg midway through the first half and was quickly replaced by Gunners teammate Beth Mead.

“She felt something in the knee that didn’t feel right,” said England manager Sarina Wiegman afterwards.

“She could walk but it didn’t feel right. For her it’s sad. You don’t want to have those niggles but that’s just the way it is now.”

The Lionesses ran out 2-0 victors against Ghana, with Lucia Kendall opening the scoring after six minutes. Arsenal’s Alessia Russo then scored a penalty in stoppage time to seal the win.

Focus now turns to the club scene, with the Gunners welcoming Liverpool to the Emirates Stadium tomorrow (Saturday) in the WSL, before a crucial tie against FC Twente on Tuesday night in the Champions League.
