FA Cup Quarter Final
Manchester United 1, Arsenal 2

ARSENAL manager Arsene Wenger is refusing to get carried away by the prospect of retaining the FA Cup despite seeing his side book a return to Wembley by beating Manchester United tonight (Monday).

Former United striker Danny Welbeck returned to haunt his boyhood club by scoring the winner at Old Trafford, earning the Gunners a semi-final date against either Bradford City or Reading.

But despite seeing his side installed as favourites to win the competition, Wenger is adamant the cup holders will continue to fulfil the cliche of taking the rest of the season one game at a time.

"Let's just enjoy tonight," said the Arsenal boss. "We live in the real world, which means taking it game-by-game.

"We want to compete in every competition. I believe the result tonight can give us some good morale for the Premiership and as well for a very important game in the Champions League away from home."

Arsenal took the lead in a frenetic and open game at the Theatre of Dreams in the 25th minute when Nacho Monreal coolly beat David de Gea at his near post following good work by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Their lead lasted less than four minutes, however, as Wayne Rooney headed home Angel di Maria's pinpoint cross to pull the scores level.

But cometh the hour, cometh the man. Welbeck, a United academy graduate deemed surplus to requirements last summer by new manager Louis van Gaal, restored the Gunners' advantage when he latched on to Antonio Valencia’s underhit backpass, rounded de Gea and rolled the ball into an empty net. "He worked extremely hard, and was rewarded with a good goal," beamed Wenger.

United ended the match with 10 men after di Maria was sent off in the 76th minute for pulling referee Michael Oliver's shirt in frustration at being booked for diving.

The Gunners will meet either Bradford or Reading in the last four at Wembley.
