ARSENAL defender Leah Williamson proved a big hit with youngsters from Islington Boxing Club (IBC) recently when she visited the gym in Upper Holloway on a secret filming mission.

The England captain was put through her paces by IBC senior coach Simon Rose after the Gunners popped into the club in Hazellville Road to film promos for their new home shirt, which is due to be released next week.

As a special treat members from the gym were given tickets to see Arsenal take on north London rivals Tottenham in the Women’s Super League at the Emirates Stadium.

And as if seeing the Gunners win 3-0, thanks to Beth Mead’s early goal and a Caitlin Foord double, wasn’t reason enough to cheer – there was an extra surprise for one lucky fan from IBC.

“We had 70 members attend the match, it was great team bonding for our junior boxers, volunteers, coaches and even the parents,” said matchmaker and IBC committee member Reggie Hagland.

“They loved the occasion, especially Harleigh Cosgrove who received Leah’s shirt after the match. They met recently during the filming and Leah spotted her in the crowd. Best thing of all is we beat Tottenham 3-0!”
