The crash took place outside the Odeon Cinema in Finchley Road

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a moped-rider was killed in a crash in Swiss Cottage on Friday night.

Officers were called to Finchley Road, outside the Odeon Cinema, at 10:03pm after a moped had been hit by a Range Rover.

The rider of the moped, a 27-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed.

The Range Rover stopped at the scene. No arrests have been made.

A mile-long stretch of the Finchley Road was reportedly closed for hours, between St John’s Wood and Frognal, afterwards while officers investigated. It has now reopened.

Detectives have asked that anybody who saw the crash, or has dashcam footage to call 020 8246 9820 referencing 7844 of March 11.
