Anyone with information about Krowndale Kids Klub?

Thursday, 8th October 2020

• I AM writing an article about the Krowndale Kids’ Klub, which was a theatre club for children and young people run by the Unity Theatre in Somers Town in the 1970s.

Unity was a working people’s theatre begun in the 1930s, originally in Britannia Street off King’s Cross Road and then, more permanently, Goldington Street in Somers Town.

Paul Robeson performed there in the 1930s and it was an important starting point for many who went on to be famous – such as Lionel Bart, Michael Gambon, and Bill Owen.

In the 1970s they started a theatre club for children and young people called the Krowndale Kids’ Klub. I would be very grateful to hear from anyone who was a klub member, knew of it or who was active there.

If you do know anything please get in touch with me at: bmcloughlin@rocketmail.com. Thanks to anyone who can help.
