• MUCH as I admire your paper, I do feel you let us down in your story about an orange bird’s sudden appearance in a Kentish Town garden, (Mystery exotic bird moves into the spare room, July 15).

Surely in a week beset by floods you should have realised it was your job to tell us what the bird’s arrival meant. For Noah the dove portended the end of the inundation.

Any clues what the orange bird was telling us in Kentish Town? The end of the pandemic? I fear not!
