A FAMOUS piece of Camden Lock graffiti depicting Amy Winehouse as an angel has been re-painted onto the side of the canalside visitor's information centre.

The artwork, known as the 'Fallen Angel', by street artist Pegasus re-appeared on Sunday after the original work had been whitewashed in a tidy up of the building, which doubles up as a branch of Starbuck's.

Ms Winehouse's mother Janis was at the Lock on Sunday to see how it had been restored, meeting Pegasus in the process.

She said: "It is great to be here. Pegasus has managed to capture Amy very well in this picture. She is back in Camden where she belongs."

The artwork had become the scene of an unofficial shrine for Ms Winehouse in the days after the singer's death in 2011. Pegasus said: "I am so pleased that my Amy Angel work means so much to people. I love Amy and the world is a much poorer place without her. Her legacy will be remembered forever and the work the Amy Winehouse Foundation is doing is testimony to her kindness and love for others."
