THE London Blitz kicked off their 2012 British American Football National League season in emphatic style on Sunday with a 70-7 victory over Premiership newcomers the Ipswich Cardinals.
The Finsbury Park-based side made an explosive start when quarterback Fred Boyle threw a short pass to wide receiver Charlie Joseph, who sprinted 50 yards down field for the first score.
Tom Shennan was the next to touchdown before Oliver Hypolite-Bishop ran in from short distance to extend the lead.
The Cardinals got some points on the board, but the celebrations were short lived as the Blitz went into overdrive with running backs Deji Ali and Jenerro Wade and rookies Andrew Cropper, Orion Modebe and Gary Welsh all among the players to get on the scoresheet.
