YOUTH football is back, and anyone who wants to know just what it means to the scores of youngsters who have been counting down the days until the big kick-off only has to look at the smiles on the faces of the Kentish Town FC players.

Like other competitions across the country, the Regent’s Park Youth League no longer records results or keeps tables for their youngest age groups. But Saturday was never going to be about points – it was all about getting back out on the pitch and enjoying a kickabout with friends.

Town’s Under-9s celebrate returning to action after the summer break

Town’s Under-9s showcased plenty of skill and teamwork in their first outing of the season, with man of the match Tommy Deller earning rave reviews after pulling the strings in midfield. Meanwhile, the occasion was even more memorable for the club’s Under-8s as they took part in their first-ever game in the league.

“It was fantastic to see so many happy faces back at the park,” said Kentish Town’s head coach Thomas Looney. “Most of our Under-8s were making their debuts. They pulled out an outstanding performance considering a lot of them have not even played club football before.”

With age groups ranging from Under-7s to Under-15s, Kentish Town are always on the lookout for new players. For more information find the club on Instagram or Facebook: @kentishtownfootballacademy
