• I JUST wanted to applaud the New Journal for running the article, (Airbnb hosts: ‘We offer a good service’, April 12).

We so often see all the negative things about Airbnb because of the multi-property “professional landlords” who are letting out whole properties with no vetting, control or anything that we forget that Airbnb has this whole other side that benefits communities!

I’m also a member of the Camden Home Sharers club. I was on housing benefit two years ago until I moved into my own sitting room and started letting my bedroom out to Airbnb guests.

I sleep on a sofa-bed now, but I pay my own rent. The layout of my small flat makes it impractical to have a full-time lodger.

I have the full blessing and support of my landlady and my neighbours, and provide a warm, clean welcome to singles and couples from all over the world with whom I share my home.
