Paul Newbury
• REGARDING your piece on Paul Newbury, known teacher at a number of Camden schools, I write as a parent from Acland Burghley who attended the meeting on Wednesday regarding his arrest, to say how well the head, Nicholas John, and all the supporting staff handled the situation, (Acland Burghley offers support and meetings with parents after teacher admits offences, March 21).
He was dismissed as soon as the school was told and has never returned. We were told before the news came out and feel 100 per cent reassured about the situation, having been given all the facts absolutely transparently, and told the charges have absolutely no links to the school, but to the individual himself.
I feel that the way it was handled is testament to both the leadership within the school and the school community itself and hope that the other schools Paul Newbury taught at in the borough were equally as supportive.
This shocking news and how well it was handled reminds me how lucky we are to have such a fantastic choice of schools in the area and how support for both students and their families is clearly of paramount importance which should be both recognised and praised.
