TEAM-MATES will be changing Aaron Gourlay’s nickname from Jimmy Carr to Lucky after he somehow managed to help keep Central London’s dreams of making the National Pool Finals alive on Sunday.
The county ‘B’ team were narrowly beating rivals Cambridge 18-17 at the King’s Cross Hurricane Rooms with one game to play.
A nail-biting encounter looked like ending in a draw when Aaron who lives in Islington, saw his attempt to pot a long black miss the pocket.
Amid gasps of disappointment, however, the ball rounded the cushions before ending up tentatively dropping into the opposite pocket to seal a 19-17 victory for the capital team.
On the other tables the Central London ‘A’ team have almost no hope of reaching the National Finals after suffering a 17-13 defeat in their game against Cambridge, while the ‘C’ team chalked up an impressive 20-16 victory in their game.
Anyone interested in a trial to represent the county team should contact Alp Sezer on 07957 134660 for details.
