A warning to drivers about Kentish Town

Thursday, 23rd June

• WARNING to drivers: avoid Kentish Town Road, the traffic standstill is nearly 20 minutes because Thames Water has barriered-off a road lane, then abandoned it for a second week.

The bus I was on the other day took 18 minutes to cover 200 metres from Kentish Town tube to the next set of lights. The gridlock was from all directions, involving dozens of vehicles.

Stress caused by 18-minute delays (this wasn’t even rush-hour) to drivers, commuters and tourists heading for Euston or King’s Cross to catch trains, is high.

Is Thames Water aware London is being held up and stressed-out by a policy of setting up roadworks on major roads then disappearing for weeks?
