Sends Boris Johnson a clear message
• NEXT Thursday May 5 Camden goes to the polls for the local elections and I am asking readers to support your Labour candidates.
A vote for Labour in this election sends Boris Johnson a clear message that Camden has had enough of the Conservatives’ arrogance and indifference.
While our Labour council was distributing more than 200,000 meals and over two million pieces of PPE and helping more than 500 rough sleepers, Boris Johnson’s Conservatives were breaking the laws they set.
Voting Labour means a vote for public services and for keeping our diverse community together.
It is a vote for bold action on the climate crisis, action on the Conservative cost of living crisis, new council homes, and investment in youth services and supporting vulnerable and older residents.
Despite Tory cuts of over 60 per cent to Camden’s budget, our Labour council spends seven times more than the average Conservative council on local safety measures such as street lighting and local wardens, and three times more on street cleaning.
A vote for Labour is also a vote for a community champion. Our Labour candidates are school governors, tenant leaders, carers and volunteers, who represent every part of our community.
Like many of us Camden gave me a great education and the chance to be part of a special, diverse, community which stands together in tough times.
Our Labour candidates love our borough and will always stand up to this Conservative government on behalf of our community and we will work every day to make Camden a safer, cleaner and fairer place.
