Declan Gallagher

• I WOULD like to add my tribute to Declan Gallagher, the Hampstead Heath operations manager who has died after an accident, (‘He knew every blade of grass’: Tributes to Heath protector Declan Gallagher, May 18).

I have been a Heath Hands volunteer for over 20 years and knew him from the Heath, and
St Dominic’s Priory, and most recently from the landscape meetings for Parliament Hill and William Ellis schools.

He greeted me as a friend and always cheered me up. It was a pleasure to meet him. My sympathy and condolences go out to his family, friends and work colleagues. He is, and will be, greatly missed.
