• WHILE “telling” at a Highgate polling station the Labour chap mentioned Labour had 1,000 members in Highgate.

Lorna Russell, the Green Party candidate was also there and commented: “You’re probably not going to get that many votes.”

And she was correct.

So the Labour Party was unable to persuade more than a quarter of its own members to cast their votes for the party’s candidate (Labour polled 740 votes).

I wonder if the party will be launching an enquiry into this strange state of affairs.
