A tale of two elections

Friday, 13th December 2019

• TODAY the people of Haverstock ward will be voting in two separate elections, the general, and that for the council.

Volumes have appeared in print over the last three-and-a-half years on the issues relating to the former, most of which centre on the issue of Brexit.

But what of the latter? For many residents it may be Camden’s “proposal” – there is only one option – to close Carlton Primary School.

Councillors say “no decisions have yet been made”. They have not added that they will be as soon as the election is over.

Officers and councillors tried very hard to keep their “proposal” under wraps, but there has been a vigorous fightback from the school, parents and the wider community.
