Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer

• CAMDEN and Islington Momentum sends solidarity to Stephen Kapos.

Mr Kapos, having accepted an in invitation to speak at an event to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, received a letter from London Labour threatening his expulsion if he went ahead. Faced with such intimidation, he has resigned his membership.

A Holocaust survivor and witness to the persecution and genocide of Jews during Second World War, we are appalled at this callous treatment by the party.

His understandable anger at Labour telling him how he should mark Holocaust Memorial Day and informing him he could be expelled for speaking of his experiences and warning of the danger of anti-Semitism and racism.

Most left wing Jews believe that Labour has become an unsafe place for left wing Jews who are more than five times more likely to be investigated, suspended or expelled for anti-Semitism than other non-Jewish members.

This does show how Labour has become intolerant and takes a bullying attitude to anyone who deviates from the leadership’s political views (whether national or international).

Camden and Islington Momentum assure Mr Kapos that our meetings are tolerant and progressive and we will welcome him to be a part of it.
