A question for HS2 about the purchase of Stranley Johnson’s house

Park Village East

Worst affected? Park Village East

• WE know that HS2 have stated that they will not purchase any domestic properties within the M25 which would be adversely affected by work relating to HS2.

Probably the worst affected street in Camden will be Park Village East.

Nevertheless in March 2016 HS2 purchased the house of Stanley Johnson (father of the more famous Boris) for a sum in excess of £3.5million on compassionate grounds.

Several other residents of the street who now cannot sell their properties at anything like the true market value have appealed to HS2 to buy their homes but have been refused. That means they cannot move.

Since HS2 purchased Mr Johnson’s house in March 2016 it has remained empty. Local residents had assumed that it might be rented out or let on a short lease to provide temporary homes for those in need or to raise money to cover the purchase cost. But so far it remains empty.

Would HS2 like to comment on the situation?
