A more modest plan is needed for the O2 Centre site

How the new O2 Centre development could look when it is finished

• CAMDEN Council should reject this O2 Centre plan and tell the developers to come back with a more modest plan, (O2 Centre plan for over 1,800 new homes ‘will be carnage’, February 24).

First, the existing buildings, with the wide range of valuable facilities they offer, should be retained, perhaps with a coat of paint.

Then, perhaps, the car park area could be used to build a few more modest blocks with new homes around the nice green square shown in the artist’s impression you featured.

And one further suggestion: sack the planning officers who have helped the developer cram in as much concrete as possible.

But, before you do that, ask them how many “town centres” do they think we need. They already dumped one in the area at 100 Avenue Road!
