A dictated shortlist of one is not a democracy

• THE decision to block Dr Agnes Kory from being on the shortlist for selection as a potential council candidate defies reason and definitely brings the Labour Party into disrepute, (Political power struggles don’t help people, June 17).
Grounds for blocking a member for consideration should be confined to issues of malpractice or malfeasance. It shouldn’t be down to the political priorities of those who have a majority on the panel. The political choice should be a matter for the party branch.
What happened in the Fortune Green selection was a clear abuse of power. A dictated shortlist of one is not a democracy. Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour once again drives over democracy and imposes itself on the party membership. Appalling.
