A deal has been finalised on Mortimer Terrace Nature Reserve

• YEARS of uncertainty around the future of the Mortimer Terrace Nature Reserve have finally come to an end.

Community efforts to save this treasured green space had stalled due to devious behaviour by the private owners and lack of funds.

As ward councillor for Highgate, I worked with fellow Camden councillors, including
in other wards and from other political parties, to raise money and to persuade Camden’s Labour-run council to come to the rescue.

Last week the deal was finalised. Camden will now gift the site to the Mortimer Terrace Nature Reserve Community Trust for the people of Camden in perpetuity.

It’s rare that a story of a community’s battle against profit-hungry developers has a such a happy ending. Let’s all join in celebration at this victory!
