A big thank you for the sacrifices of all carers

Thursday, 11th June 2020

• WE know this is a difficult time for many of our residents, but particularly for the borough’s carers – the people caring for a partner, family member, friend or neighbour.

I want to take this opportunity, during Carers Week, to say a heartfelt “thank you” to the many carers in Camden and to shine a spotlight on their hard work and commitment, day in and day out, to care for others.

We want to remind you that you’re not alone, and there is specialist help and support available to you during this pandemic.

At the best of times, carrying out a caring role – alongside usual routines and commitments while also looking after your own mental and physical wellbeing – is tough.

In this time of great uncertainty, we know some carers are struggling to cope with the added pressures and strains resulting from the coronavirus outbreak.

Many of you may have also found yourself in an unexpected caring role as a result of Covid-19. You may be supporting family members, friends or vulnerable people to self-isolate or shield, and are experiencing a whole new set of challenges.

Here in Camden we recognise the sacrifice carers are making in their communities every day and the vital support they are providing to those who are most vulnerable and at-risk.

Every one of you is making a huge difference to people’s lives and are continuing to do that through an even tougher period, where you’re likely providing even higher levels of care – so thank you from everyone at Camden.
