Smashed electricity bollards in Queen’s Crescent have been left unrepaired for months

• LETTERS and articles frequently appear in your paper of the deteriorating state of Queen’s Crescent; its broken pavements, potholes, piles of litter, drug and violent crimes and a declining street market.

Ironically the council not only ignores pleas to do repairs but has been sitting on a £1.1million grant from the GLA since February 2018. This could have been used to tackle these.

It has employed at least eight firms of consultants to “advise” officers and councillors on the crescent. It would be good to learn how much these “advisers” have been paid for their work.

The dereliction continues with some six smashed electricity bollards (for the use of the few remaining market traders) having been left unrepaired for months (pictured). I tested one of these which had its bare wires exposed and found these live. Anybody touching them could receive a fatal shock.

Why is it then that those on the council, officers and councillors alike, who receive good money from our taxes force us to live with such conditions; in this case one a danger to life?

All we get is yet another firm of consultants. Ironically the latest of the bunch to be employed is called “Making-Good”. Nothing of this though in the last three years. Perhaps the irresponsible cabinet members would care to comment.
